Excellent food in a funky atmosphere

Looking for a special place to enjoy a meal and feel the owner’s warm welcome.
We enjoyed our last lunch of 2026 at La Casa Verde, down a passageway from one of the charming streets in the Concepcion neighborhood. Marcelo will give the warmest of welcomes even if the restaurant is full as it was the day before when we stopped. Fortunately, there was a table available for our lunch. We dined on a delicious corn pie, a traditional Chilean dish that, in our opinion, should be a national export. Other dishes we enjoyed were scallops, salmon, and seafood gnocchi (plate of the day). Marcelo was a gracious host to all diners. Portions were ample. Our meal - of 2 starters , 2 mains and bottle of Chilean red wine- was approximately $90. Une petite porte à passer pour être accueilli avec chaleur dans une salle typique du Valpo historique avec ses murs en matériau naturel. ...et la vue!!!! Cuisine chilienne authentique, excellent pastel de choclo. Et le patron est aux petits soins. A recommander ++.
